Making sure that every child reaches their potential is a challenge for every parent. Literacy is one of the biggest challenges that face parents who are seeking entry to an independent school for their child.

KSOL has created a specific course that helps children write effectively. The structured course held at our Shirley Centre in Solihull is Tutor led and will involve role play and plenty of homework.

The class for creative writing starts on 15/11/2008. The programme will last for 11 weeks and finish on the 07/02/2009.

Places are limited and we only have 3 places remaining at our Shirley Centre.

This invaluable 11 week course is aimed for children taking an entrance exam for independent schools.
The syllabus is structured to cover key topics that will help children write effective narratives.

The course will encourage children with its structured plan that includes:

  • Balanced Arguments - Compound and complex sentences.
  • Persuasive Text - Logic cause and effect.
  • Letter writing - Paragraphing and structure.
  • Story Writing - Planning, character development, openings.
  • Story Writing - Myths, legends, traditional tales.
  • Story Writing - Contrast good and evil alternative endings.
  • Instructions - Time connectives, imperative Bossy tone.
  • Non Chronological Reports - recounts, explanations.
  • Interview Practice - Speaking clearly, role play.
  • Interview Practice - Constructing reasoned arguments.
Note that there will be no classes on 27/12/2008 and 03/01/2009.
