Verbal skills or verbal reasoning is a section of the 11 plus exam dedicated to the testing of a child's vocabulary and reading skills. However, most of the questions also require an aptitude for problem-solving and critical thinking.
Establishing a broad vocabulary is absolutely essential for achieving 11 plus exam success. Verbal reasoning tests not only require basic knowledge of words but an in-depth understanding of how these words apply within different contexts.
The CEM 11 plus verbal reasoning tests can include activities such as word association, jumbled sentences, odd word out, synonyms & antonyms and cloze passages. It's important to keep practicing these types of questions and developing techniques to increase speed and accuracy. We offer free downloads, online 11+ tests and verbal reasoning packs (reading skills and vocabulary skills) which are full of practice material to help your child become a pro at verbal reasoning.
