Back in 2002, co-founders Aron and Anita were going through the 11 plus preparations with their own child. Recognising a real loophole for tailored online tuition, KSOL was created, offering each student a completely unique revision programme.

KSOL allocate each child a qualified 11 plus online tutor who will monitor their progress and send a report out each week via email. Any incorrect questions will appear as re-sits in future tests and depending on their individual progress, the level of difficulty will be altered. Tutors are there to offer support and guidance throughout your 11 plus journey and will be available to speak to directly over the phone during office hours or via email.

This Year 4 Early Starter 11 plus online course introduces children to 11 plus preparation through carefully structured practices across the four key subject areas: 11 plus Maths, 11 plus English, 11 plus Verbal and 11 plus Non-Verbal Reasoning (inc. Spatial Reasoning).

Daily practice is designed to gently extend children beyond the expectations of the national curriculum, supporting early 11 plus learning. It is completely normal for pupils to encounter some 11 plus questions or topics that they have not yet covered at school. This helps children develop familiarity with 11 plus-style questions over time and supports effective 11 plus preparation in Year 4.

At KSOL, we believe in focused and efficient learning. When a child answers a question correctly, it usually shows they have understood and applied the concept successfully. Reviewing explanations for questions they have already mastered can lead to unnecessary repetition. Instead, by accessing explanations only for incorrect answers, children can target specific areas of weakness, make better use of their study time and build confidence as they progress. This approach supports steady improvement and helps pupils benefit fully from our online 11 plus tuition programme.

As the 11 plus exam often requires children to work at a level beyond the national curriculum, we understand how important it is that your child receives the right support at the right time. Your allocated online tutor will be available to contact directly over the phone during office hours and will send you an email every week with your child’s progress report. This will include a summary of how your child is progressing on the programme and any useful tips, relevant at each stage in the year.

They will also be on hand to guide parents throughout the entire process, giving individual advice whenever necessary.

11 plus preparation in Year 4 is focused on building strong foundations in 11 plus Maths, 11 plus English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Beginning preparation at this stage allows children to develop the core skills needed for the 11 plus exam gradually, in preparation for Year 5.

The GL Assessment 11+ exam from past years has included two 50-minute papers. The exam may cover individually timed sections in 11 plus English (including Comprehension and Technical English), 11 plus Maths, 11 plus Verbal Reasoning and 11 plus Non-Verbal Reasoning (including Spatial Reasoning).

All 11 plus exam questions are of multiple-choice style and children will be required to mark their answers on a separate answer sheet. Children will have space on the question booklet to complete any workings out. There will be a short break in between the two papers.

The 11+ GL Assessment entrance exam is audio administered and includes full instructions regarding timings, example questions and how to fill out the separate answer sheet.  Familiarity with this format forms an important part of effective 11 plus preparation..
