Our new online 4-module creative writing course is meticulously structured, effectively guiding year 5 students aspiring for independent school entry as well as year 6 students aiming to elevate their creative writing in advance of their GCSE preparation. This course includes 4 comprehensive lessons, each featuring a detailed teaching video that covers essential creative writing techniques, such as:
Figurative Language Use: Master the art of using metaphors, similes, and other figurative language to enhance storytelling.
Vocabulary for Effect: Expand your vocabulary and learn how to choose words that create a desired impact.
Impactful Sentence Construction: Develop the ability to craft sentences that are both powerful and engaging.
Structure and Cohesion for Impact: Understand how to organise your writing to create a cohesive and compelling narrative.
Each lesson builds on the previous one, ensuring a cohesive and progressive learning experience. These structured lessons are designed to progressively develop your child's creative writing skills and inspire young writers. The course includes techniques for how to approach the creative writing task in independent school entrance exams, supporting students towards exam success. The children will be exposed to a variety of key terms and devices that they will come across upon starting secondary school, building a solid, confident foundation for learning beyond their primary school education.
Throughout the course, students will work on a descriptive writing piece, gradually enhancing it after each lesson. They can revisit and revise this piece at any time to apply their newly acquired skills.
By the end of the course, they will have a complete piece of writing, which will be submitted for detailed feedback. Our experienced tutors will provide constructive comments and highlight areas for improvement.
