20-Week Learning Plan

Each block includes 4 weeks of teacher-led video lessons and quizzes, followed by 1 assessment week, covering Maths Arithmetic, Maths Reasoning, SPAG and Reading.

Clear explanations help your child understand each topic, while quizzes give them opportunities to practise and identify where they need extra support.

4 Assessment Weeks

After each 4-week block of lessons, your child completes an assessment week covering Maths Arithmetic, Maths Reasoning, SPAG and Reading.

Across the assessment weeks, they revisit earlier topics alongside their latest learning, helping them retain knowledge while highlighting strengths and areas for further practice.

Lessons become available Monday to Thursday. Your child can complete them that week or return to unfinished lessons later, throughout Year 6. Your child completes each block’s lessons before taking its assessments, then finishes all four assessments before starting the next available block.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the course structured?

The course follows blocks of four teaching weeks, followed by an assessment week.

During teaching weeks, video-and-quiz lessons become available from Monday to Thursday. Your child does not need to complete them on the day or week they are released.

They must finish all lessons in a block before starting its assessments, and complete all four assessments before progressing to the next block when it becomes available.

What happens during an assessment week?

Your child completes four assessments: one each for Maths Arithmetic, Maths Reasoning, SPAG and Reading.

The first block’s assessments cover the topics taught in that block. Later assessments also revisit earlier topics. For example, block three assessments cover learning from blocks one, two and three, helping your child remember and apply their knowledge throughout the course.

Your child can begin these assessments once they have completed all lessons in the block.

My child is stronger in one subject than the other. Can the learning reflect this?

Yes. Your child will study both Maths and English areas, with additional support provided where their quiz results show they need more practice. The Education Bank provides further video teaching and quizzes on those topics, helping your child strengthen weaker areas alongside their regular lessons.

How long will my child have access to the course?

Your child will have access throughout Year 6, giving them flexibility to complete the course around school and family commitments.

If they finish early, their written quiz reports will remain available for revision until the end of their Year 6 access period. Completed lessons cannot be reopened.

Is this a SATs preparation course, a secondary school preparation course, or both?

Both. The course strengthens the Year 6 Maths and English skills your child needs for SATs, while helping them build a secure foundation ahead of secondary school. The focus is on developing understanding that your child can carry with them into Year 7.

Are the lessons live, or can my child watch them whenever they choose?

The lessons are recorded, so your child does not need to attend at a set time. Once a lesson becomes available, they can complete its video and quiz at a time that suits your family.

Available, unfinished lessons remain accessible throughout Year 6, so there is no need to complete them on their release day or during that week.
